Yes - On Equality of Opportunity!
 
Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 imposes two sets of duties upon the Board:
1. A set of equality of opportunity promotional duties

2. A set of good relations duties
The equality of opportunity promotional duties require that the Board shall, in carrying out all its functions, powers and duties have due regard to the need to promote equality of opportunity between:
1. persons of different religious belief

2. persons of different political opinion

3. persons of different racial groups

4. persons of different age

5. persons of different marital status

6. persons of different sexual orientation

7. men and women generally

8. persons with a disability and persons without

9. persons with dependants and persons without.
The good relations promotional duties require that the Board shall without prejudice to its obligation at 1.3 above have regard to the desirability of promoting good relations between:-
1. persons of different religious belief

2. persons of different political opinions

3. persons of different racial groups.

Section 6 of the Human Rights Act makes it unlawful for a public authority to act in a way that is incompatible with a Convention right unless it is required to do so by primary legislation or inevitably incompatible secondary legislation.
