Human Resources
The Board employs the teachers and ancillary staff in its controlled schools in addition to all ancillary staff in the maintained schools within its area. Other advisory, administrative, professional, clerical and technical support staff are based at its headquarters in County Hall, Ballymena or at designated centres located throughout the area. The staff of the library network are also Board employees.
The main responsibilities of the Board's Human Resources Branch are
Recruitment - advertising job vacancies, advising on procedures, processing applications and facilitating appointments panels;
 
Training and Development - ensuring that the necessary paperwork is completed for new personnel, making arrangements for the induction and training of staff;
 
Staff Welfare - conditions of service, salary adjustments/entitlements, developing and advising on staff support schemes, promoting compliance with legislation in the workplace;
 
Management Support and Union Liaison - helping to deal with specific work-related problems, maintaining good industrial relations, contributing to the framing of common inter-Board policies.
Contributing to the retention of the Board's IIP standard -
The Board holds the Investors in People Award.
