Preventative Action and Emergency Procedures

The impact of the extreme freezing weather conditions during December 2010 and January 2011 was significant.  This booklet, 'Protect your Premises - Preventative Action and Emergency Procedures' is an up-dated version of one issued previously.  This provides the latest available information about contractors and appropriate procedures which schools are likely to need should severe weather conditions, fire or vandalism damage school premises.

The Board and its officers will continue to provide all possible resources, support and guidance to managers.  However, it is now generally accepted that the most effective preventative and initial remedial action is provided by those with local responsibility for property.

All schools can be assured of the Board’s commitment to ensuring that pupils’ education is not disrupted and the health and safety of pupils and teachers is central to our planning.

  • Preventative Action and Emergency Procedures Letter [pdf / 15KB] Please find attached updated version of the above booklet which I hope you will find helpful. It is suggested that this is retained in an easily accessible place within the school. It is also recommended that a copy is made which should be kept at home by the principal/premises manager or building supervisor as emergency situations can happen after school hours or during holiday periods.
