Human Resources, Welfare and Absence

It is the policy of the Board that all eligible persons will have equal opportunity for employment and advancement irrespective of perceived religious belief, political opinion, gender, disability or race. 

The NEELB has adopted a number of policies and procedures addressing key equal opportunities issues.

The Board and its Senior Management Team are committed to securing equality of opportunity for all Board employees and it is essential that all members of staff are involved in ensuring that everyone is treated fairly and equally. 

The Board monitors applicants for teaching and non-teaching posts by use of an equal opportunities monitoring questionnaire. In addition to fulfilling its legal obligations, monitoring provides statistical information on the effectiveness of policies and procedures. All monitoring information is treated in strictest confidence and used solely for statistical purposes, access being strictly controlled.

The Education and Library Boards (ELBs) were dissolved on 31 March 2015. The Education Authority was established on 01 April 2015 and is now responsible for all of the operational functions previously carried out by the five ELBs in accordance with the Education Orders.
