Education Committee (Children and Young People)
Functions
Functions where the committee is required to investigate and to report and/or recommend to the Board.

  • To consider and make recommendations on all aspects of special education provision and the development of the psychology service.
 
  • To consider and make recommendations on all socio-educational issues including EOTAS, links with Health and Social Services, community groups and behaviour teams.


  • To consider and make recommendations on general policy and strategy with regard to the Youth Service including -

    • the development of the Youth Service

    • staffing matters relating to the Youth Service

    • reports on activities and programmes

    • the financial management of the Youth Service

    • appointments to Youth Centre Advisory committees

  • To liaise with Borough and District Councils, the Sports Council and other agencies in the pursuit of adequate provision in all aspects of recreational, social, physical and cultural themes and activity.

  • To consider and make recommendations on all aspects of community provision including the development of community involvement and responsibility for the Board's services.

  • To consider and make recommendations as required on scholarships, grants and awards and benefits for educational purposes.

  • To receive reports from Inspections and other agencies.

  • To consider and make recommendations on all aspects of non-delegated capital provision in youth units and where appropriate schools.

  • To consider matters referred by the Board for special consideration and report.

All members of the Board may seek membership of the Committee.
