Functions

A: Functions to be performed on behalf and in the name of the Board

  • To consider and approve all public tenders (including tenders for meals facilities in voluntary schools), contracts and accounts.

  • To approve payments made for works and supplies completed without tender.

  • To consider and approve the appointment of consultants.

B: Functions where the Committee is required to investigate and to report and/or recommend to the Board -

  • To consider and make recommendations to the Board on Financial Estimates - Recurrent and Capital, including issues relating to LMS Schemes.*

  • To make recommendations on the acquisition and disposal of sites and premises.

  • To monitor the implementation of Board decisions regarding the provision of new buildings and extensions and/or improvements to existing buildings.

  • To make recommendations on the purchase, leasing, letting, maintenance and equipment for Board premises.

  • To consider issues relating to Payments to Members.

  • To consider, and make recommendations on recruitment, salaries and conditions of service of Board staff (other than teachers).

  • To consider, amend and make recommendations on the following schemes:

    • Scheme for provision of Clothing Scheme to provide

    • Free and Assisted School Meals

  • To consider and make recommendations on all aspects of the provision of Home to School Transport and recoupment of travelling expenses.

  • To consider and make recommendations on requests for grant aid (not dealt elsewhere).

  • To consider and matters referred by the Board for special consideration and report.

  • The Committee may appoint such sub-committees or working parties as it considers appropriate.

*Where LMS Schemes have delegated responsibility to Boards of Governors, it is the role of the Committee to provide a framework within which Governors can operate efficiently and effectively.
