Governors Training - Online Application 2011-12

The following programme of training is being provided for Governors.  The form should be completed at least two weeks before training is due to take place.  The Support Programme details can also be downloaded below.

Please note that receipt of an application confirms a place on the course.  Course participants will receive a reminder of date and venue prior to the event.

Courses
Induction: Target Audience - New Governors and those returning after a break in Governor service.
Health & Safety/Risk Assessment: Target Audience – All Governors
School Improvement - Every School A Good School: Target Audience – Governors of Nursery, Primary, Post Primary and Special
Recruitment and Selection of Staff: Target Audience – Governors who have not attended Recruitment and Selection training in the last 2 years are encouraged to attend.
Redundancy (teaching and non-teaching): Target Audience – Governors involved in redundancy process.
Attendance Management: Target Audience – Principals and Chairs of Governors
School Improvement – School Development Planning: Target Audience – Governors of Nursery, Primary, Post Primary and Special Schools
An Introduction to School Finances: Target Audience – First time Governors and serving Governors who feel they might benefit from a “refresher” course on financial management.

Child Protection

Child Protection Training for school Governors has 3 specific Strands – this training is Strand 2.

Target Audience – Chairs of Boards of Governors and specific Governors who have been delegated to take the lead in child protection issues in order that they can assist the full Board of Governors with their child protection governance.

The programme is for Governors in the above categories who have not attended NEELB Child Protection training since 2008.

Remaining Governors will receive Child Protection awareness raising during Induction training (Strand 1) and/or Recruitment and Selection training (Strand 3) as appropriate.  General Child Protection training for Governors can be assessed through the designated teacher for Child Protection in the school.
