Parents, Educational Psychology Service

The Education Psychology Service (EPS) comprises three teams of psychologists based in the three regional offices in Coleraine, Ballymena and Newtownabbey. 

The EPS is managed by the Principal Educational Psychologist, based at Board Headquarters in Ballymena and the five Senior Educational Psychologists. 

Educational Psychologists are psychology graduates who have gained a postgraduate professional qualification in developmental and education psychology.  Education Psychologists are also qualified experienced teachers.


The Education and Library Boards (ELBs) were dissolved on 31 March 2015. The Education Authority was established on 01 April 2015 and is now responsible for all of the operational functions previously carried out by the five ELBs in accordance with the Education Orders.
