Ballycastle Residential Music Course 2017

The course will run from Saturday 1st July - Tuesday 4th July. 

COURSE OBJECTIVES 
To introduce young instrumentalists to orchestral and ensemble playing, and to afford them the opportunity of meeting and living with others of their own age from all parts of the Education Authority, North Eastern area in a truly communal and integrated atmosphere

STAFFING
The course will be supervised by the Authority’s Instrumental Tutors, Teachers and Pastoral staff, all of whom have First Aid Training. A nurse will be in attendance throughout the course. The decision of the Course Director will be final in all matters.

ELIGIBILITY
The course is open to all pupils at present in P6 or P7 in the Authority’s area who have at least one year’s experience of playing orchestral instruments or guitar (including orchestral percussion, but excluding recorder and piano).

Course members will be escorted into Ballycastle town in small supervised groups on one or two afternoons.

In addition to a residential nurse, a doctor of medicine will be on call 24 hours daily during the course. PARENTS MUST COMPLETE THE MEDICAL FORM GIVING FULL DETAILS OF ANY SPECIAL DIET, MEDICAL HISTORY OR CONDITION OF WHICH WE SHOULD BE AWARE!!  IF THERE ARE NO SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS, PLEASE ENTER “NIL” ON THE FORM

Parents are welcome to attend an “End of Course” concert on Tuesday 4th July at 1.30pm.  The course will end after the concert.

Transport will be provided to the course on Saturday 1st July. Details will be issued at a later date. Parents/Friends are encouraged to transport their own children home after the concert on the last day of the course.  Any difficulties should be notified to the Music Service Office prior to the commencement of the course when alternative arrangements will be made.

SERVICES & INFORMATION

The Education and Library Boards (ELBs) were dissolved on 31 March 2015. The Education Authority was established on 01 April 2015 and is now responsible for all of the operational functions previously carried out by the five ELBs in accordance with the Education Orders.
