Parents, Transport
Pupils who were entitled to transport assistance to a more distant school prior to the beginning of 1997/98 school year (ie the effective date of the revised transport arrangements contained within DE Circular No 1996/41) will have their entitlement protected, provided they remain at that school.
In the interest of efficiency and cost effectiveness, the Board will co-operate with the other Boards in the harmonisation of school holidays, so that the home to school transport services are required only on pre-determined days each year. Schools will be advised by 31 October each year of the non-operational days for school transport services during the following school year.
Information on transport assistance is included in the Boards publications to parents at enrolment in primary and transfer to secondary education.
