What happens if two schools are Almalgamated?
Where a proposed amalgamation of 2 schools results in the use of 2 separate sites, the Board will treat each site as a separate school.

Will pupils be entitled to transport assistance?
Transport assistance will be provided to those pupils whose permanent home addresses are located within the statutory walking distance (2 miles for primary and 3 miles for post primary schools) from their nearest school site.

Concessionary travel on Board buses may be granted to those pupils whose permanent home addresses are located within the statutory walking distance of their nearest school site provided that there is space available after all eligible pupils have been accommodated. This arrangement can be withdrawn at any time in light of changes to existing transport policy, an increase in the number of eligible pupils requiring travel assistance or as a result of a rationalisation of the transport service.

The Board will not be expected to introduce new routes or services for individuals or small groups of pupils except for the reasons given below.

- The Board will not introduce new routes or extend or vary an existing route in a way which would involve additional cost except where the change is necessary to ensure that a pupil is not required to walk for more than the statutory walking distance. Where a route extension is approved the extension will be linked formally to the transport entitlement of specified pupils. When those pupils no longer require the service the extension will be discontinued.
