How do you get travel assistance if your child has special needs?
Home to School Transport will be provided for pupils who have a Statement of Special Educational Needs which specifies that transport is required.
 
What if a child is undergoing formal assessment or has a temporary placement in a special school or unit?
Children who are undergoing formal assessment and for whom a special school/Unit placement has been made available on a temporary basis may also be eligible for transport at the request of the Designated Special Education Officer.
 
What if a child has moderate learning difficulties?
Pupils attending moderate learning difficulties special schools will be encouraged where appropriate, to travel by public transport where this is available and reasonably accessible. This will help to develop their independence.
 
Can escorts be provided?
Escorts will be provided where required to ensure the safety of children on the recommendation of the Designated Special Education Officer.
 
What if specialist vehicles and equipment will be needed?
Specialist vehicles and equipment will be provided as deemed necessary.
