About, Information, Press and Public Relations
The North Eastern Board’s Information Office handles relations with the press and media for the whole organisation and can also give PR advice to schools or deal directly with the media in problem situations on behalf of schools as resources permit.
The Board’s ‘Communications Strategy’ sets out the broad parameters for action across all aspects of communication between the Board and its staff, stakeholders and various external publics. The policy on public relations centres on maintaining a good working relationship between the Board and the press and broadcasting media.
The keynote is conducting the Board’s business in a spirit of openness and freedom of access to information.
A magazine, ‘Education News’, is produced to keep both the staff and broader stakeholders, particularly in schools, up to date on developments in the education, library and youth service sectors.
Information Officer Daryll Kenny BA (Hons) MCIPR, DipCIPR, Northern Ireland Institute of Public Relations Regional PR Professional of the Year in 2003, has 30 years experience in the public relations field in Government and local Government while Assistant Information Officer Diane Wilson has a sixteen year track record.
