Schools Branch Officers are involved in the strategic management and planning of nursery, primary and post-primary school provision across the Board’s area.
Amongst the range of core activities, officers within Schools Branch:
- oversee the appointment of leadership posts in controlled schools;
- contribute to the training for principals and Boards of Governors;
- advise on matters relating to the functions and duties of Boards of Governors of controlled schools;
- provide advice and support to schools, parents, external agencies and the wider community;
- respond to a range of parental issues, concerns and complaints;
- meet regularly with consultative committees;
- contribute to the administration of pre-school education through the Pre-School Education Advisory Group;
- provide advice and support relating to suspensions and expulsions of pupils;
- provide advice and support to parents who educate their children at home;
- co-ordinate and oversee administration and support during school inspections.
