Schools Branch, Critical Incident Support For Schools

One of the cornerstones of emergency planning is the procedure in place for supporting schools in handling critical incidents and managing bereavement.

Within our schools many events can create a sense of anxiety and concern but none more than those when a critical incident occurs resulting in bereavement and loss for that community.

Two key departments from the Board interface with schools during a critical incident: Schools Branch and the Educational Psychology Service.

Schools should initially contact the relevant Schools Branch Officer at County Hall who may advise the school on procedures to be followed and support services available to the school community.
