School Library Service, Services to Primary Schools and Nurseries

Our mobile libraries visit schools three times a year to enable teachers to choose books for their classroom. Each mobile carries on average over 5000 titles providing a wide range of materials of an appropriate level to support the curriculum, general interests and reading for pleasure. Additional stock may be loaned to those schools that have developed central libraries.

 

We will deliver and collect topic collections of books and audio-visual media tailored to the needs of the individual teacher. These may be borrowed for approximately one term and can be requested by phone, email or sending in a request. Alternatively, teachers are welcome to call into the School Library Service in Ballymena to select their own materials.

 

We will take requests for particular titles and find bibliographical details.

 

A professional librarian can visit to advise on any aspect of organising, managing and resourcing the school library.

 

We can provide talks and displays to promote reading, resources and libraries for teachers, parents and children.
