The topical issue of gender was explored during the autumn term 2009 through facilitation of an interesting one-day course 'Understanding Gender Difference in the Early Years', which was repeated over two days in Houston's Mill, Broughshane. The course enabled staff to reflect on data and research in relation to gender differnce, to enhance knowledge and understanding of reasons for gender difference, and to consider how to plan and provide for an appropriate learning environment and experiences for boys and girls which supports their particular gender needs. We also had a visit from Superman during an afternoon workshop on Superheroes!
