The school serves the local community and incorporates a policy of integration and equal opportunity. The school is open daily during the academic year and caters for 104 children who attend on a part-time basis. Most children transfer to one of the local ‘feeder’ Primary Schools at the end of the year.
The children follow a curriculum planed and evaluated by the staff. This is carefully tailored to meet the needs of each individual child.
All staff are committed to the school and work very much as an enthusiastic and efficient team. We are delighted to say that Ashgrove is the first Nursery School in Northern Ireland to be awarded the prestigious Investors In People Award which acknowledges the dedication of the ‘team’ to continually improve our training and thus the service we provide.
The Nursery is very pro-active in its work with parents. Staff meet regularly with parents to inform them of their children’s progress and also facilitate a ‘drop in centre’ where parents can come and counsel each other over coffee. There is also an effective programme of evening meetings which focus on parenting techniques and social development.
