Parenting, Promoting Parental Involvement in the Nursery

During the 2009-10 academic year, the theme of engaging parents was taken as a major focus for a series of nursery cluster meetings. Nursery staff across the NEELB met to consider the importance of involving parents/carers in their children’s learning and the potential benefits for the children, families and schools. They also generously shared ideas in relation to how they seek to engage parents/carers which were then recorded and disseminated. A brief document is available here which summarises some of the key ideas from the clusters. Also available is an audit tool adapted from the ETI’s ‘Together Towards Improvement, A Process for Self-Evaluation, Pre-School Education’, 2004 - ’ based on Quality Indicator 1.2: Links with Parents.
