Revised Curriculum, Christmas During WW2

Description of Unit
This unit focuses on the six Christmases of WW2 in Britain.  The unit gives pupils the opportunity to learn about WW2 by looking at the impact which the war had on people’s lives, particularly at Christmas.  By using Christmas as the focus pupils are able to connect home front events like blackout, rationing, evacuation, shortages, The Blitz and the V1 & V2 bombings, with the wider events of the war. The unit will develop pupil’s ability to manage information in order to make decisions and to communicate the decisions in oral and written forms.  It is intended that some of the issues and topics in this unit will be revisited later in Key Stage 3, so this unit can be seen as a foundation for further learning.
