ICT Progression

Using ICT, along with Communication and Using Mathematics, is one of three statutory cross-curricular skills in the Northern Ireland Revised Curriculum.

The requirements for Using ICT are set out under the 5 ‘E’s, which are:

  • Explore

  • Express

  • Exchange

  • Evaluate

  • Exhibit

These are processes learners will engage with through their work in Using ICT and have replaced the former Strands.  Click here for an explanation of the 5 ‘E’ s.

The following progressions have been developed by the NEELB ICT Support Service to enable schools to plan for coverage and progression in Using ICT.  They are not intended to be prescriptive, but rather to be downloaded and amended by schools to meet their own needs.

All curricular activities are cross-referenced with the 5 ‘E’s and also with the Thinking Skills and Personal Capabilities Framework.
