2. Balance between theory and practice in course contents.
Well balanced, perfect preparation.
Well balanced, good connections of theory and using our theoretical knowledge in (practice) exercises.
There was a perfect balance between these two aspects. I have to emphasise the fact that the activities suggested will certainly be motivating and interesting for students and this is a key point in ELT.
Very good.

A good mix. We have had the opportunity to update our knowledge and to live the ‘real life’ in Northern Ireland .
Theory and practice were perfectly balanced. It was given a great importance to the practical side teaching which was quite motivating and fun!
Very good.
Very good balance. I think they have complemented each other in an excellent way. I will be able to use both.
A lot of practice, could have been a bit more theory, but balance is OK.
The course was very well balanced not to get people bored with theory.Very good.
1 00%
A good balance.
Good.
It was perfect. The most impressive was our possibility to experience practically different methods and activities.
Very good. Never seemed boring and lots of good laughs. That’s important in life.
Well balanced, I was not bored. It was lively and enjoyable.
Well balanced, quite informative keeping us busy but didn’t feel like it. Good fun.
We did lots of different things and I enjoyed it, too. It wasn’t boring at anytime.
Well balanced.
The way of giving a topic was very well. Also it would help me to give my topic to my students. I learned lots of different.

3. Organisation/Administration/Planning/Communication.
Couldn’t be any better = perfect.
PERFECT!
All the aspects mentioned above were carried out with great accuracy, efficiency and respect for the participants. (Thank you!)

No complains! You have been really kind to give us all the information about organisation, planning, communication etc. Well planned!
All these aspects were brilliantly done.Excellent.
Perfect – there is no other word! Perhaps it might be better to have the lovely Ballycastle trip another day (i.e. not after the late night in Belfast – I think a lot of us were tired and that was a shame).
Well organised, enough time for own interests, I always felt well-informed.
The programme was excellent, planned very effectively as much time was spent outside the campus and we could learn a lot from a real life in Northern Ireland, experience the country (it’s sights, people, culture). If any problem occurred it was solved in a very short time. The staff in the campus was very helpful, the communication was very good.
Excellent.
100%
Real professional.
I appreciate that we started on spot – precise hours and that we followed the programme, very well structured.
Organisation and planning was really professional. All the activities mentioned in the programme were carried out. All arrangements were explained clearly, all the questions were always answered.
VERY GOOD!!!!! Nice to ‘eat out’ in restaurants, pubs, inns… (maybe too hard tempo sometimes).
I have really, really enjoyed being here. I’m serious when I close my eyes I couldn’t stop thinking English during the course. So I think it’s good.
Compliments. Everything went well and I have really, really enjoyed being here. I made friends with some participants and we will keep in touch.
With every question we could come to all of you. Thank you very much this course is better organised than the last one in 1 995. I’ll come back, when I can.
Excellent. What can I say? We were very lucky. I think you are professional in your area. Also, your team work was well organised.

4. Within this course have you gained from other experiences not mentioned above? Please specify.
International contacts, contacts to local people & knowledge of life in other European countries.
International contacts, knowledge of life in other countries & meeting local people.
Yes, I became interested in Comenius Projects and also aware of their possibilities and range as far as English Language teaching is concerned.
Emotions from nice singing activities. Melting-pot culture meeting. Having fun. Sharing all day activities. It has been interesting to work with teachers from other countries, to share lots of things such as teaching experiences.
International contacts. Contacts to locals. Knowledge of lifestyles in the other European Counties.
I have a better view of educational systems in other countries.
Not only the knowledge of UK culture but of so many other cultures. For example I havenever imagined to sing a Turkish song, or say in French: Il pleut comme une vache qui pisse (It rains cats and dogs). I’ll try to convey to my students – The magic cultural interaction – I have daily experienced.
Practise English language.
I met a lot of people from other countries and shared experiences and way of life; it was a really ‘open minded experience’.
Yes, I have learnt lots of things about other European countries, their culture, customsand traditions.
Intercultural exchange.
Listening to ‘authentic’ English is very useful to me, so just being here is great. Also I learn a lot from watching TV – so I really enjoyed (and learnt a lot from) The Office.
The positive interaction among the participants has improved my enthusiasm for the activities.
Listening and communicating to/with people of various mother tongues/perceiving their ‘national idiom’ and views.
Practising English language.
If you want co-operate, it’s good to get to know the person in advance.
Knowledge of culture and everyday life in different European countries. Listening to different accents of different nations. Knowledge of nature and the sights of Northern Ireland .How much you learn from one another staying together like this. I prefer this from B&B or families… interaction improves your skill.
I have gained a lot of knowledge about the European countries. I have learnt many things about your meals (food, drinks).
I have gained a lot of interesting information from course participants who were from 1 1 different European countries.
Knowledge of different European cultures.I learned about food culture. Firstly it made me bad, but later I got used to your food and meals. I understand your life style also the other European countries.

5. Would you recommend this course to other teachers of English?
                                                YES - 100%  NO - 0%

6. What influences do you anticipate the course will have on your future studies of English and your classroom teaching? Are there specific activities or new strategies you will try to include in your teaching?
I will use a lot of songs and other activities for example the possibilities of making groups in my classes. I think I am encouraged to speak much more English in my classroom.
I will adopt/adapt many of the ideas for teaching at school. I’m motivated to use many of the activities at my class and teach more learner orientated. I improved my English.
I will certainly use a lot of activities I have learnt here. Some of the activities are pretty used in secondary teaching but there was a different approach that ‘upgraded’ their applicability/use in the classroom.
I’ll get more enthusiasm! I’ll apply some of group-formation strategies and the bi-lingual translation (in – out) activity we had the last day.
I’ll try to remember all the most useful activities I’ve learned about (songs – role play).
I am returning home full of energy and with a lot of new ideas how to boost my students’ activity. I am going to pay more attention to the different styles of thinking of the learners because my work has probably not been varying enough (covering all 4 types). Personally I am going to enlarge my English reading and to improve pronunciation.
I will try to use the strategies and methods in my classroom teaching speaking.
I’ll try to include in my teaching all the activities and strategies experienced in this course, especially songs and of course Irish ballads.
I think I have to study English a lot. I need to reinforce my knowledge and I want to do that. I love English! I think it’s very important the formative assessment, but it is not easy. I would like to study more about this argument and do this with my pupils.
I will use all the activities by adapting them to my students, and I am sure they will be of great success among them.
I will try to include new strategies in my teaching, but my lesson time in primary is reduced by Moratt’s reforms.
I think a lot of the pair work and warm-up activities will work great with my pupils.
I got a lot of ideas for activities in classroom. I’m looking forward to doing them with my pupils.
I will adapt some of the activities trained (especially group work); I will pay bigger attention to listening skills. I have learnt a lot of new vocabulary (especially slang) which I can use in my classes. There were some warm-up activities which I will use with my students and I was not used to do but the course showed they are effective if we do not want the students to get bored. And I will adopt the info rmation about Northern Ireland as teaching realia of English speaking countries is part of our syllabus.
I’ll surely try to do my best to include all activities and strategies in my teaching after coming back to school.
Awareness of learning strategies. Creative approach to contextualisation of ‘fact and figures’ – material. Ways of ‘connecting’ aspects of learners’ minds (audio – visual- approaches).
For sure I will try the strategies we have been told here with my students. Good experience to work with primary teachers. Keep up e-palling – with our students – Italy – Sweden – Portugal – Germany . Which in the long run will lead (perhaps) to a language project between Sweden and Germany .
The most important thing to improve is my English vocabulary. So I have decided to focus on reading and listening English. In my teaching I’ll try to use most of the activities we tried out here during the course, especially activities for younger learners. I hope to use the songs as well.
Most of all – encourage my team to go here!
Your teaching methods are really creative. I have been using the same methods in my lessons but yours is more lively than ours. I’m going to try in my lessons. I will take part in a Comenius project.
I will try to take part in a Comenius project. I will ‘update’ my colleagues’ knowledge. I will use a lot of the activities we have done here in classroom (with pupils and adults). I will encourage my colleagues to take part in such programmes.
I will try many of the teaching strategies included in this course. I will also try to pass onto my students and colleagues many of the different cultural aspects I have learnt about.
I will use the methods that we used here, in my lesson.
