Drugs Education

This statutory part of the curriculum is now contained within PDMU and Learning for Life and Work. Schools are required to have a Drugs Education policy, based on DENI circular 2004/9 and Drugs: Guidance for Schools 2004.

The drugs education programme should be integrated into the curriculum for all pupils and include materials which are relevant, appropriate in content and in keeping with the school policy.

This section contains a policy outline, suitable for use in Primary, Post-Primary and Special schools, which addresses all those elements which should be included.

The NEELB smoke free policy is also included in this section. Schools may download and use this document to comply with current legislation.
