Heartstart UK

Heartstart UK Schools Programme is an initiative co-ordinated by a partnership between NEELB, NHSSB and the British Heart Foundation to provide an opportunity for children to learn simple emergency life support (ELS) skills.

The programme focuses on the ELS skills needed in a life-threatening emergency and is designed to provide pupils with maximum time for hand-on practice with resuscitation training manikins. The programme is designed to train staff as instructors in Emergency Life Support and backed up with relevant teaching resources and resuscitation manikins.

Over 100 schools in the NEELB are now successfully implementing the Heartstart UK programme in both primary and post-primary schools
