School Council

A school council is one way of giving pupils a voice and encouraging them to participate fully in and identify with the life of the school. It is also an opportunity to put many of the thinking skills and personal capabilities associated with the NI Curriculum into practice and delivers real life learning associated with Strand Two of Personal development and Mutual Understanding.

This section contains a set of structured support materials to enable your staff to address the principles of pupil participation, and outlines the practical steps to introduce first class councils and then a school council in your school.
