Course Title: Heads of Mathematics Working Groups

Course Objectives:
This on-going programme of support is designed to facilitate heads of
mathematics in the planning of units of work and schemes of work to
take account of the requirements of the revised curriculum at Key Stage 3.
The programme will take the format of full-day working sessions enabling
HoDs to work in groups to produce units of work and appropriate resources
which will then be circulated to all mathematics departments.
The days will be at the Antrim Board Centre and will be facilitated by a
member of the Board’s mathematics team.
Course Date(s): 10th and 11th November 2008, 9th and 10th February 2009.

Course Title: Teachers of Mathematics

Course Objectives:
This is a programme of support designed to facilitate teachers of mathematics in the planning of units of work to take account of the requirements of the revised curriculum at Key Stages 3 & 4.
The programme will take the format of 1 full-day to launch a new resource for teaching of mathematics entitled ‘ Improving Learning in Mathematics’ and will be followed, at a later date, by 1 full day to consider and review the implementation of the resource.

Course Title: New Primary Numeracy Co-ordinators
Phase: Primary and Special
Course Objectives:
This conference is designed to form part of the on-going support for numeracy co-ordinators and aims to provide new numeracy co-ordinators with the opportunity to understand their role in developing numeracy.
The programme will take the format of 1 full-day.
Issues which will be addressed include:-
- Clarification of roles and responsibilities for new Co-ordinators;
- Development of a Numeracy Policy;
- Formation of an Action Plan for Numeracy;
- Reviewing the implementation of N.I Primary Curriculum;
- Self – evaluating numeracy developments and use of Benchmarking Data.

- Financial Capability in the Primary school;
- Implementation of key emphasis of N.I Primary Curriculum within mathematics;
- Self – evaluating numeracy developments in school and use of Benchmarking Data.
