When may the Board consider offering concessionary Travel?
Where there are surplus seats available on Board vehicles the Board may consider offering concessionary travel to children who would not normally be entitled to this assistance provided they are attending their nearest suitable school. This concession may be withdrawn at any time ie in the event of an increase in the number of eligible pupils or a decline in numbers of eligible pupils which would result in withdrawal of or rationalisation of vehicle size.

Brothers and sisters who reside within the statutory walking distance of their nearest school will not be entitled to concessionary travel on Board vehicles to a more distant school unless they have been refused admission to the nearest school which is within statutory walking distance.

Will concessionary travel be available for pupils attending non-grant aided schools?
Concessionary travel will not be provided for pupils attending non-grant aided schools.

Is concessionary travel available from a childminders's address?
Concessionary travel may be considered from a childminder’s address provided that the child has been refused admission to all suitable schools within statutory walking distance of the permanent home address and the childminder’s address is located on the existing bus route.

Can concessionary travel be withdrawn?
Concessionary travel may also be withdrawn as a result of changes in transport policy.

Is concessionary travel free?
The policy concerning concessionary travel is presently under review and in future may involve charges.
