Youth, Criteria for Registration and Sponsorship

All Applicants must
 
  • Have a Management Committee operating under a constitution which has as its aim, the making of provision for the personal and social development of young people;

  • Provide adequate premises for meetings, with special reference to sanitary facilities and fire precautions;

  • Make provision for adequate insurance cover in respect of Public Liability, Employers Liability with cover for liabilities and activities as appropriate;

  • Promote youth activities for young people 4 - 25 years;

  • Have a child Protection Policy in place.
 
Criteria
1) The provision of face to face youth work for at least 39 hours per year based on 26 weeks operation, with activities available to all young people in the community.
 
2) (a) The average nightly attendance must be at least 16 members in the 4 - 25 years age range for a full Block Grant.
 
(b) Youth Organisations with an average nightly attendance of 10-15 members will be considered for a reduced Block Grant.
 
(c) Youth Organisations with an average nightly attendance of 9 members or less are not eligible for assistance.
 
3) Management Committee Office Bearers cannot be paid for part-time work.
Assistance for non-sponsored Youth Organisations
 
  • Youth Organisations which do not meet Board criteria may be registered and receive support and advice from Board Officers.

  • Some organisations and groups may be able to receive assistance under the Community Relations

  • Youth Service Support Scheme which as a Department of Education for Northern Ireland Scheme has different criteria.
