The North Antrim Hills Panel was formed in 1980 to offer Silver and Gold assessments in the Antrim Plateau. Under the leadership of Panel Chairman, Cowper Lynas, assessors voluntarily give of their time and expertise to carry out the complete range of duties associated with assessments.
A central system is employed in the notification and allocation of assessments. The panel is supported and serviced by North-Eastern Education and Library Board Youth Officer who acts as Panel Secretary and his work is supported by some clerical hours.
For local assessments in the Antrim Plateau a Panel Assessor will carry out the complete assessment from start to finish. In other cases Assessors may be involved in pre-expedition checks. In all cases the Panel assists groups to complete their venture by offering support and guidance.
