North Antrim Hills Wild Country Panel, Terrain Information

Terrain Information
Famous for its nine glens the Antrim Plateau (OSNI Discover Series 1:50 000 nos 5 and 9), formed from basalt, rises to 551m. The area offers some excellent walking with views of Antrim coast and moorland. Because of the plateau formation the inner part can be boggy and physically demanding. Over the year there has been a noticeable increase in boundary fencing and forestation. Despite this, there are ample opportunities to plan challenging and rewarding expeditions/explorations. The area is also rich in historical sites.
