Woodhall Residential Centre, Woodhall Approach

Learning at Woodhall is not only rewarding for pupils, students and accompanying staff, but is soundly based, effective and enjoyable. It provides opportunities for staff to work with young people away from the constraints of the timetable. Staff can develop greater rapport with pupils/students and often observe previously hidden skills and talents.

Since its inception in 1977, Woodhall has been in the vanguard fostering an integrated curricular approach designed to meet the needs of the NI Curriculum (schools) and the Youth Service Curriculum.  All programmes focus on the Personal and Social Development of participants. Our Programmes draw upon a broad range of methods and techniques to encourage individual involvement and responsibility within the group setting. These include structured discussion groups, simulations, encounter techniques and video. Locations range through  group work settings team challenge initiative courses, river voyage, mountain exploration and townscape, low and high rope course, climbing wall and a wide range of other outdoor activities and programmes.

Following consultation with the groups staff, each group is offered a unique programme, ensuring that an enjoyable residential visit dovetails with preparatory and follow-up work.
